Meet our Team
Amanda is an Event Management student at Humber College and a recent graduate of McGill University in Montreal. She loves planning events that involve culture, sports, music, travel, and food. Most recently, Amanda has helped organize Humber College’s Café à Paris fundraiser event in support of the Breast Cancer Society of Canada and the 2014 Environmental Defence Gala. Amanda spends her free time trying out new recipes and daydreaming about where her next travel destination might be. During the summer you can often find her at her favourite Toronto ice cream shop, Ed’s Real Scoop, browsing salvaged and re-purposed home décor items at Metropolis Living, or cycling the Waterfront Trail with friends.
Shubhangi has had a love for events ever since she was a little girl. She is currently completing a certificate in Event Planning at Humber College and she is excited to enter the industry. St. Lawrence Market remains one of Shubhangi's favourite destinations within Toronto. She says that "while sometimes it gets criticized for fruit and vegetables that are a little bit more expensive than elsewhere in the city, the quality is always good and it's still one of my weekly destinations for fresh fish, cheese, rice, bulk food and other specialty items." Shubhangi also enjoys spending an afternoon at Kensington Market, cruising the streets of Chinatown (east or west) or popping into stores along Gerrard in Little India.
New to Toronto, Aly has spent most of her life between Canada's two coasts. Replacing the ocean for the Lake of Ontario, she now calls Toronto her home as she studies Event Management at Humber College. She brings over 5 years of event experience with a specialty in music festivals, fundraising, art and culture. Most recently, Aly has been working with NXNE Music & Art Festival, helped produce a runway show in New York Fashion Week and keeping busy organizing a number of events on the Humber campus. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, traveling and eating her way through Toronto. Her favourite Toronto spots include Nazareth Ethiopian restaurant at Bloor & Ossington, The Distillery District and The St. Lawrence Market.
Jenna is an Event Management student at Humber College, and is a recent graduate of Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB. She fell in love with planning events after becoming involved with a charity fundraiser in her second year of University. Since moving to Toronto she has helped to raise money for the Red Cross with the recent "London's Calling" event at Humber College, and has recently become involved in the planning of the 2014 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Her favourite area in Toronto is the Junction, because of how many unique restaurants and shops can be found there. Her favourite restaurant here so far is Pho Hung on Spadina Avenue- which she says serves the greatest Vietnamese food in the city!
Anna graduated from York University with a BA in Communications and is currently in the Event Management program at Humber College. Her two greatest passions are travelling and creating spectacular, large scale events. Her hopes for after graduation are to be able to combine her two passions into a long and exciting career within the event industry. Anna loves the saying 'work hard, play hard'. On a night off you can find her hitting the town in search of a new spot, be it a restaurant, pub or coffee shop, however her all time favourtie is Boehmer Restaurant on Ossington Ave. When she is not scavenging the city Anna loves to relax by the lake with a book and her Ipod.
Lindsay is a postgraduate student in the Event Management program at Humber College. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in Honours History and Women’s Studies. She enjoys planning events that provide a challenge and variety, ranging from life cycle events such as birthday parties to educational conferences and not-for-profit fundraisers. She is an avid reader and movie fanatic, enjoying everything from the classics to the most recent blockbusters and books. These passions can be seen in some of her favourite locations around Toronto, including The Monkey’s Paw, an antiquarian bookstore that specializes in uncommon and rare books. She also loves walking around the lakefront and across the Beltline Trial, watching shows at the Ed Mirvish Theatre and having some fun board game competition at Snakes & Lattes.
Gillian is currently a student at The Humber Business School in Event Management. She also recently graduated from York University for Contemporary Dance. She is passionate about the arts, culture, food and her city. Gillian has found that planning events in Toronto is a great way to encompass all of these things. In the fall of 2013, she helped organize a dodge ball tournament titled “Do or Dodge” for the MLSE Foundation. Gillian is also a new intern with Toronto Special Events and is looking forward to her adventures with this team. One of her favorite spots in Toronto is on the roof top patio of Hemmingway’s in Yorkville. A great place to relax with friends when the weather is warm!
Fernanda Sobreira is a Postgraduate student at Humber College at the Event Management program. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Marketing Management. In the past, she has worked as a Marketing Specialist and Communications Advisor. Fernanda has helped organize MoHumber Garage Sale, a fundraising event in support of Movember and is currently leading a team to organize the Area 64 Speech Contest Spring 2014 for Toastmasters International. She likes to engage people into ideas and have a dynamic and creative environment. Her favorite spots in Toronto include Distillery District, High Park and the 401 Richmond Roof Garden.
Jessica Tone is one of the event coordinators for Off The Beaten Path Toronto scavenger hunt. She is currently an postgraduate student at Humber college for event management. She has an honours-BA degree in biology from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is very passionate about events, always looking for the next one to plan and be a part of. She is always looking for a new adventure, whether it is spending time with friends, traveling to new places, or trying something different. But she does enjoy the quite nights at lake, in the summer as well. Jessica is a very happy, energetic and passionate person and can not wait to see you at the Off The Beaten Path scavenger hunt. It is sure to be a very fun filled day of discovering the hidden gems our beautiful city has to offer.
Casey is currently completing a post-graduate in Event Management at the Humber School of Business. She recently graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Interior Design and it is her goal to integrate both of these unique fields into her career. She is currently working on the CIFP Case Challenge and The Financial Planner Educator Conference, both held at Humber College. In addition to Event Planning and Interior Design, her passions include, photography, travel, softball, graphic design and the culinary arts. One of her favourite spots in Toronto is a vegan and gluten free bakery called Bunners, nestled in the heart of the Junction neighbourhood. She can often be found there snacking on their to-die-for cinnamon buns.
From Monterrey, Mexico to Toronto, Canada. Pavel is a Event Professional with International Experience in Coordination and Production of Corporate events and Entertainment. Pavel graduated from Regiomontana University with a BA in Marketing and has a Certificate in Integrated Marketing and Communications from New York University and is currently in the Event Management program at Humber College. His big passion is creating amazing experiences in his events. While not a fan of the cold Canadian winters, Pavel enjoys spending summer afternoons hanging out at High Park.
From the east coast, Rozi came to Toronto to study Event Management at Humber College. She graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island where she studied business. Since moving to Toronto she has helped produce “MoHumber”, an interactive garage sale to raise money for Movemberand the OMCA Conference & Marketplace. Rozi recently went to Las Vegas where she assisted with gifting suites at the American Country Awards and is working for the Ontario Motor Coach Association, providing them with administrative and event support. On weekends she can be found exploring Toronto’s vintage and furniture shops looking for her next DIY project.
